Marguerite Fern King

Marguerite Fern King, 94, died Tuesday March 10, 2020. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday March 13, 2020 at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Graveside Service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Antioch Cemetery, Frankfort, KS. Marguerite was born in Wells Township, Marshall Co KS on January 29, 1926, the daughter of James Henry Tebbutt & Elnora Lockas Tebbutt. She grew up and attended school in the Antioch neighborhood and graduated from Frankfort H.S. in 1943. Marguerite went on to earn a Bachelor of Science from Friends University in 1963. On July 11, 1948 she married Ray Carlyle King. They had two children, Gary Lee King and Nancy Rae King Pattisson (Dean). She is survived by Gary and Nancy, and by one grandchild, Tracy Lynn King. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Bernard Eugene Tebbutt. Marguerite taught school for 36 years, teaching at Patterson, Antioch, and Irving Public Schools in Marshall County and Delano Public School, Delano, CA. She retired in 1991 from Wichita Public Schools having taught third grade at Seltzer Elementary School and Beech Elementary School. Marguerite lived in Wichita since 1950 but spent much of her spare time on the family farm near Frankfort, KS. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, baking, and spending time with family.
