Maria Cristina (Almaguer) Blanco, 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed to Eternal Life on October 23, 2016. Visitation with the family, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 27, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Graveside service, 11 a.m., Friday, October 28, Resurrection Cemetery. Maria was born in Mayari, Cuba, to Cruz Almaguer and Cristina Lopez on January 4, 1928. She came to the United States on October 20, 1967 with her immediate family and settled in Wichita, Kansas, where she raised her four children and worked at St. Francis Regional Medical Center until her retirement. After the passing of her beloved husband, Jose R. Blanco, she moved to League City, Texas. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Angela Furnaguera, and brothers, Pastor, Eduardo, Fausto and Marcial Almaguer. She is survived by her children, Fredesvinda M. Wilson, Maria E. Blanco, Rene Blanco and Jose R. Blanco, Jr.; grandchildren, Isabel M. Balderas, Christy Shaw, Brian Wilson, Julie Balderas, Angela Balderas and Noah Blanco; sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, Bruce E. Wilson, Stephen Duplissy, Delia Mora Santamarina and Lisbeth Drees; great-grandchildren, Sheridan, Carrington, Skyla, Isaac, Gwendelyn, Gavin, Stella, Oliver, Juliana and Liam.
