Marie Eloise (nee Vandewalle) Snyder

Marie Eloise (nee Vandewalle) Snyder, age 94, beautiful, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died May 16, 2022. Marie lived her strong faith daily and was most proud of and greatly loved by her large family. After raising her children, she enjoyed working at estate sales, selling real estate, buying and selling postcards, traveling around the United States, reading, and gardening.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Mathias Snyder; infant daughter, Theresa Anne; her parents, Lawrence and Caroline Vandewalle; and two brothers, Julian and Jere.
Marie is survived by her sister, Joan Schilling; children, Edward (Sharon) Snyder, Kathryn (Peter) Hanas, Marilyn (Dennis Wilson) Snyder, Susan McKenzie, Janet Kenney, Donald (Michelle) Snyder, Thomas Snyder, Gregory Snyder, and Peter (Cathy) Snyder. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alicia Meenaghan, Andy Snyder, Delaney Keir, Max Diltz, Elfie Diltz, Caitlin Kenney, Tim Kenney, and Janelle Snyder; and her great-grandchildren, Arya Meenaghan, Aemon Meenaghan, Christina Snyder, and Jasper Snyder.
A Rosary will be held at 4:30 pm, Sunday, May 22, 2022, and a Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, May 23, 2022, both at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Services will take place in the school gymnasium.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Good Shepherd Hospice and at Regent Park Healthcare for their compassionate care during Marie’s final days.

Marie had a soft heart toward Jere, her little brother having him come for an extended stay each summer. There he was surrounded with children, a happy family and loads of interesting things to do. She impacted so many lives in a loving, nurturing way. God bless and keep her.
