OConnell, Marilyn J., 64, passed from this life on Sunday, August 22, 2010. She spent her career as an RN at Via Christi St. Francis, a profession that she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Winifred (Abney) and Michael OConnell. Survivors include her daughter, Sarah OConnell (Michael Lies); son, Christopher Masura; grandchildren, Ivan, Joseph and Annamarie Masura; brothers, Patrick (Mary Kay) and Dan (Jean); sister, Mary McFadden (Joel); and long-time friend, Jeff Vaughan. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all those who provided such loving care to Marilyn at the Catholic Care Center during her last difficult months of life. Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 26 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 27 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Wichita. Memorials have been established with St. Anthony Catholic Church, 325 N. Ohio, Wichita, KS, 67214 and the American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS, 67211.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 26 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East.

Marilyn, O Marilyn, What a wonder you are! My world is a better place having known Marilyn. She will be greatly missed. She was inspiring, encouraging, compassionate and always kind. Thank you for being an example of acceptance, courage, and love. Peace to you, dear Marilyn!
Marilyn was an amazing woman. Her strength and pure spunk inspired me to rise to life’s challenges. I take comfort in knowing her Spirit has left her physical vessel behind and she is free. I will always remember her courage.
