Marjorie was born in Newton, Kansas on May 20, 1940, and was the oldest daughter. She spent her childhood growing up on a German Mennonite farm not far from Walton, Kansas with her three younger brothers. During her schooling she enjoyed singing competitions and 4-H. She graduated from Walton High School in 1958 and immediately entered the workforce as a modern working woman. She was a classy lady who made a career out of banking and enjoyed helping others. In 1980, she married the love of her life, Ron Matthews, and together they made their home in Valley Center, Kansas.
She enjoyed caring for all of God’s creation; her beloved Samoyed dog, Samantha, the cats in the neighborhood, her flowers, and her many precious nieces and nephews. Marjorie is famous for her delicious round pumpkin bread given to those who were most special to her. Aunt-Margie especially loved spoiling her beloved grand nieces and nephews who were the lucky recipients of her creative and thoughtfully packed “Birthday Boxes” and “Christmas Boxes”, fun movie nights with popcorn, and exciting outings together to fun places all around Wichita, Kansas.
Marjorie loved the Lord Jesus Christ and strove to serve Him by living a life of service to others and weaving excellence and integrity into everything that she did.
