Marjorie Isabel Spencer (Tate) Meyer

Meyer, Marjorie Isabel (Tate) Spencer, 93, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009. Viewing 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Service 11:00 a.m., Monday, September, 21, 2009 at Riverside Christian Church. Preceded in death by her parents, John E. and Effie I. (Porter) Tate, her first husband of 19 years, Woodie Lynn Spencer and her second husband of 16 years, Abe Meyer. Survivors: nieces, Sondra (Dan) Robison of Wichita, Candis Gaskill of Indianapolis, Indiana, and nephew, Robert (Pam) Tate, Leawood, Kansas. Marjorie and Abe opened the Abe Meyer Nursery and were in business for 17 years. She was a member of various gardening clubs and was one of the founding members of Botanica Gardens. Throughout the years, Marjorie won “Best of Show” ribbons at the State Fair for her rug hooking work; her passion enticed her to teach rug hooking in her home for many years.
