Rees, Marjorie Ruth (Weber), 79, passed into the arms of her heavenly father, Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Marge was born September 26, 1931 to Leslie and Ruth Weber. She was raised and educated in Detroit, Michigan and earned a BS degree from the University of Michigan. While at Michigan, she met and married John Rees on August 18, 1957. Upon his graduation from the University of Michigan Law School, they moved to Wichita in 1958 where he practiced Law and Marge taught school. Three children were born to this union: Ruthann, John E. II and James. Her parents, brother, John L. Weber, husband John E. and son John E. Rees II preceded her in death. Marges enthusiasm and love of life took her into various groups ~ PEO, Junior League and her “Do Nothings”. Marge is survived by her daughter, Ruthann of Wichita, son, James of Kansas City, grandson, John E. III of Kansas City, her sister-in-law Eleanor Weber and nephew Roger Weber of Daytona Beach, FL. Memorials have been established with the Wichita Childrens Home, 810 N. Holyoke, Wichita, KS, 67208 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202. It is with deep gratitude and appreciation that the Rees family wants to recognize the extraordinary kindness and care shown to our mom by her host of friends, by Dr. Ray Fisher, Rev. Dick Gorham, Shelly Kirksey and our earthly angel, Chris Kubik. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.

  1. Ruthann, I have been out of town and have just been catching up on reading newspapers. I am so sorry to read about your mother. I did not know her very well but in the time I spent with her, it was very evident that she was a wonderful person. I am thinking about you.

  2. Marjorie was a patient of mine for many years. She was helpful in getting my older daughter into a sorority at college. Marjorie was always a positive person and an inspiration to all who knew her. I will truly miss her.

  3. Ruthann and Jim – I have been out of town and am so sorry that I missed the memorial service. I hear it was beautiful and ended with the Michigan song!! As the ‘next door’ neighbor I came to love and appreciate your mother. She was ALWAYS a pillar of faith and offered a positive outlook about everything….ugly fences, failed gardens, plumbing problems, etc.! My visits these last few months were a source of spiritual renewal and rich fellowship. She always had an interest in my work, faith, family and our fellow neighbors. Know that you have been and will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. I am so happy for her that she is with Jesus and as she said, ‘with those she loves on the other side’. She will be missed. Her example, cheerleader words and ready smile will continue to be remembered until I see her again. Blessings to you both and to Johnny as you carry the Rees torch! Peg, the neighbor next door! peg

  5. Ruthann and Jim, Your mom was a wonderful person and you are so blessed to have such a wonderful family. May you find peace in knowing your parents and John are LIVING well! May God Bless you!

  6. My late wife, Janice (and I, too), greatly appreciated Marge\’s support, friendship, concern and, most of all, her cheery disposition during Janice\’s final months.
