Marlene Joyce Boster, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt & Friend died peacefully surrounded by family on November 6, 2016 at the age of 84. Marlene was born November 13, 1931, in Brazilton, Kansas, the daughter of Otto Ferdinand and Lena Meyer. On May 13th, 1960, Marlene was united with the love of her life, D. Wayne Boster, and shortly thereafter settled in their life long home in West Wichita. During their 56 years of marriage, they raised a much loved daughter. Marlene had an unwavering faith in God and was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church. Over the years, she served her Lord in varying capacities. She was also a talented musician and was a member of the church choir. Marlene was an especially devoted Grandmother and mentor, passing her passion and talent for music to her granddaughter. We were all blessed to learn many lessons from Marlene in her 84 years with us. Among them; cleanliness is next to Godliness, Grandchildren are worth the efforts of parenting your own offspring, in small towns everyone is related in one way or another, dont perch on untreated wooden lounge chairs because splinters are impossible to get out of your bum, monthly bridge club is not about playing cards its all about the gab, 1 margarita just wont do, 2 margaritas are heading for danger, Dillards is a sanctuary, never schedule anything during the Wheel of Fortune, wardrobe essentials include lipstick and a smile, 4 laps around the mall equal a mile, dogs are womens best friend, 500 pieces in a puzzle are plenty, 500 flavors of ice cream are not enough, laughter is the best medicine, there are silver linings in all of lifes situations; fear not but hold steadfast in faith. Finally and most importantly; Christs Love is abundant, share it often with everyone whom you come in contact with, not only in word but in action. Marlene is rejoicing in Heaven, having a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her final call takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, playing cards, reading and doing crossword puzzles to her hearts content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed; food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. Marlenes legacy of survivors include her husband, D. Wayne Boster Jr; daughter, Jill Rochelle Hathaway, granddaughter; Sonja Nichelle Hathaway; sister Elda Viets; several nieces and nephews; a plethora of additional relatives ad numerous close friends. The family will receive and rejoice with family and friends on Thursday November 10th from 5:00 7:00 PM at Downing & Lahey Mortuary, 10515 West Maple.
