Marvin B. Salber

July 5, 1929 ~ May 31, 2023
Marvin B. Salber, 93, departed peacefully from this earth on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted and beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Throughout his life, Marv was known for his impeccable work ethic, honesty, friendly demeanor, ready smile and his ability to “fix anything, but a broken heart.” He always believed in helping others; and will be remembered for his countless acts of kindness and generosity. He was a proud United States Army veteran where he served on the front lines of the Korean War. Growing up in Petersburg, Nebraska, he was the second of six children born to Ben and Mary Salber. In the 1950s, he graduated from Bradley University with a degree in Horology (clock/watch making); but ultimately pursued a long and successful career in marketing and sales with the Derby Refining and Coastal Companies. He was the consummate family man who shared four children with the love of his life, Patty. In retirement, Marv enjoyed camping and pulling his fifth-wheel trailer to any lake, fishing, golfing, tinkering, and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. As a devout and prayerful Catholic, he honored his God through every triumph or tribulation in his life. Marv was preceded by his parents, brother Walter and sister Eileen; his wife of 49 years, Patty, his son Mike, and his son-in-law, Perry Banwart. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Delling, Pat Banwart and Sharon (Jeff) Cerre; brothers, Harold (Jo) Salber of Colorado Springs, CO, Gerald (Jan) Salber of Lincoln, NE and Kenneth (Mimi) Salber of Tucson, AZ; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Jacy Costello. All services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N. Socora, Wichita, KS: Rosary and Viewing, 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023; Mass and Rite of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests memorial donations be made to Victory in the Valley, 3755 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67218. Services in care of Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.
Rest Marvin, until you hear at dawn, the low, clear reveille of God. Thank you for your service to this nation. U.S. Army, Korean War.
