Mary Agnes Gard

Gard, Mary A. (Howard), 102, of Wichita, died on February 15, 2005, after a wonderful life. Mary was born in Wilmore, KS and graduated from Ottawa University in 1926. Mary and her husband Raymond made their home in Independence, MO. In 1969 they moved to Wichita to begin retirement. She and Raymond were devoted to each other in their 65 year marriage. Mary was a gracious hostess and an accomplished organist. She enjoyed the fine art of needlework and possessed an amazing intellect. A private family service will be held. Survivors: son, Dr. Howard and Carol Gard of Crescent City, CA, son-in-law, Dr. George J. Mastio of Atlanta, KS; grandchildren, Ann Bauer of Wichita, John Mastio of Wichita, and Katie Kaufman of Des Moines, IA, Marty Beyer of Oakrun, CA, Marilyn Sargent of Redding, CA, and Hal Gard of Salem, OR; thirteen great-grandchildren. Memorials established with the Wichita Center for the Arts, 9112 E. Central, Wichita, KS, 67206 and Pratt Public Library, 401 S. Jackson St., Pratt, KS, 67124. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
A private family service will be held.
