Mary Dean Sander, 85, Retired Educator, died Tuesday, June 22, 2021. Born September 8, 1935 in Wichita. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Sunday, June 27, 2021; Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am, Monday, June 28, 2021, both at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Rousseau; brother, James Rousseau; husband, Leo Sander. Survived by her sons, David Sander, Paul Sander; daughters, Clare (Mark) Vanderpool, Annmarie (Jason) Algya; grandchildren, Luke and Paul Vanderpool, Grace (Sam) Vitulli, Lucy Vanderpool, Abby, Leo, Henry, and Molly Algya. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with: Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, 124 N. Roosevelt, Wichita, KS, 67208; St. Katharine Drexel Catholic School Fund c/o Catholic Diocese of Wichita, 424 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS, 67202. Mary Dean was such a holy, classy lady and a shining example to a number of generations of women how to be a loving wife, mother and granddaughter dedicated to her family. It was a privilege to know her (and Leo). She will be greatly missed in the Blessed Sacrament family. May she rest in God’s eternal peace.
