Mary Elizabeth Treweeke

Treweeke, Mary Elizabeth, retired bookkeeper, passed away on August 7, 2007 at the age of 98. Memorial service 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 11, Prairie Homestead. Elizabeth was born in Augusta, KS on July 22, 1909. She attended Wichita Business College and spent most of her adult life in Wichita. Elizabeth worked for many years for the Rounds and Porter Lumber Co. in the accounting department. She retired in 1972. Elizabeth was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wichita and did volunteer work at Wesley Hospital and with Meals on Wheels. She is survived by her niece, Karen Rickard of Arlington, TX and two nephews, Rod Kaufman of Lawrence, KS and John Kaufman of Augusta, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the memorial fund at Prairie Homestead at 1605 W. May, Wichita, KS, 67213. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.

Elizabeth & I were co-workers in the late 70’s (after she retired). She worked part time for Bill Rounds and was delightful. I’ll never forget her telling me that she decided to quit smoking when one morning there were ashes on her butter. I’m very sorry to say that I lost contact with her in the mid 80’s, even though I thought about her often, I actually thought she had passed away and I just missed seeing it in the paper. She lived a full life and was a very kind person, I hope the end was peaceful for her.
