Mary Kay Vestring
92, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Mary Kathryn Funke was born to Harry and Cecil (McKiernan) Funke in Wichita, KS on November 7, 1923. She attended school at Blessed Sacrament, Mount Carmel Academy, and graduated from St. Marys Cathedral and Wichita State University. She was a member of Alpha Tau Sorority while in college. She was married to John "Jack" Vestring October 15, 1949 and moved to Burns, KS. Jack died on October 14, 1964 in an automobile accident. Mary Kay then managed the family business and raised her 3 children. Preceded in death by her husband, Jack Vestring; parents, Harry, Sr. and Cecil Funke; siblings, Helen Kennalley, Harry A. Funke, Jr., Charles Funke. Survived by her children, Marty Vestring of Wichita, John Vestring, Jr. (Linda) of Tulsa, OK, Charles Vestring (Susan) of Prescott Valley, AZ; siblings, JoAnn Robertson (Charles) of Wichita, John Funke (Maryanna) of Oregon; 2 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Mary Kay was a long time member of Magdalen Church, a member of the Agatharian Society, and Monican Circle. She enjoyed her association with these organizations and her continued pursuit of Bridge. Rosary will be at 6:00 P.M., Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, May 16, 2016, at Church of the Magdalen Catholic Church.
