Mary Louise Lauer, died peacefully November 8, 2016. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 10, 1925 to Mary (Gunzelman) and Mathias Kerschen. She graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy in 1942 after grade school at St. Josephs Catholic School. She graduated cum laude from Wichita State University with degrees in Microbiology and Bacteriology. Mary Lou was a medical technologist and Lab Supervisor at St. Josephs hospital. She established the first school library for St. Patricks grade school. Many friends and family called her mom. In her later years, she volunteered at the Spiritual Life Center and taught RCIA classes. She enjoyed YMCA water aerobics and playing iPad games. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Linus; her parents; her brother, Fr. Matt Kerschen CssR. Survivors include children, Greg (Linda) of Littleton, CO, Maribeth Lester (Kirk) of Wichita, LouAnn Getz (Rex) of Manhattan, Tim (Gina) of Wichita, Jane Lauer of Littleton, CO, and Mark (Vicki) of Wichita; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Mae Kessler of Emporia; and many nieces and nephews. Rosary at 5 PM, Sunday, Nov. 13, followed by visitation; Funeral Mass 10 AM, Monday, Nov. 14, both at St. Thomas Aquinas. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202. Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
