Mary Lucas Dakan

Mary Lucas Dakan, passed away January 29, 2017. She was born March 5, 1925 in St. Paul, MN to Donald T. and Marie M. Lucas, who, with grandson Weston Teal Anders and brothers Richard C. Lucas, Daniel C. Lucas and Phillip R. Lucas preceded her in death. Mary grew up in the Twin Cities, graduating from The College of St. Catherine where she studied art and art history. While raising three children, she was a volunteer with the Wichita Art Museum where she met and exhibited the works of numerous Kansas artists. Mary enjoyed tennis, bridge and travel with her many friends. She was beloved as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and will be sorely missed. Mary is survived by daughter, Nancy Anders, Broomfield CO; sons, William Dakan (Elizabeth), Wichita, and T. Teal Dakan (Marty), Kansas City, MO; grandsons, Colin Anders, and Andrew and Robert Dakan; granddaughters, Sarah, Katherine and Rachel Dakan; brother, Andrew M. Lucas (Nancy), Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 P.M., Monday, February 6, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church Chapel, 1321 N. Stratford, Wichita. Private interment.
