Donovan, Mary Marguerite “Sissy” (Harding), died Sunday, May 22, 2011. Born October 29, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas to Rita Brosseau Harding and John Charles Harding, Sr., she was known as “Sissy” by family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Kansas State Senator Leslie David Donovan, Sr., who is also president and owner of Donovan Auto Truck Center in Wichita. Also survived by: children Lisa Donovan Halfmann of Plano, TX; David Donovan of Wichita and Robert Donovan and wife, Debbi, of Wichita; twin brother, John Harding, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of San Antonio; grandchildren, David Donovan, Steven Donovan, Michael Donovan, Jenna Donovan, Audrey Donovan-Stafford, Jillian Donovan and Matthew Halfmann. Sissy was an accomplished artist and sculptress. She gave of her gift of talent to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church where she was a longtime member. One of her greatest gifts to the parish was her sculpting of the churchs fourteen Stations of the Cross. She had formerly served as board member of the Guadalupe Clinic, president of Kansas Legislative Spouses and member of the Via Christi Hospital Foundation Board. To Sissy, devotion to Les was her priority, and was the “wind beneath his wings”. She always did everything with style and grace and her support of her family enabled them to accomplish many things. The Rosary will be 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 25; Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., Thursday, May 26, both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Guadalupe Clinic, 940 S. St. Francis, Wichita, KS 67211 or The Lords Diner, 520 N. Broadway St., Wichita, KS 67214.   2. Les, We are so sorry for your loss. I served as Vice President under Sissy when she was President of the Legislative Spouses. That was when I really got to know her.
