Mary Whitson, 85, retired General Manager/Kitchen Manager for Taco Grande, Inc. and USD 259, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017. Visitation, 11 a.m. 12 p.m., at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m., Benton Cemetery, both Thursday, February 23. Preceded in death by parents, Harley and Hazel Ballinger; sister, Ruth Gregory; brother, Gilbert Ballinger; husband, Carroll Whitson, and grandchild, Brian Hutson. Survivors: son, Terry (Shirley) Whitson of Wichita; daughter, Glenda (Ted) Wilhelm; sisters, Ilene (Ray) Ruggles and Dorothy (Gene) Sanders; brothers, Ronald and John Ballinger; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ballinger; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
