Hampel, Mathilda “Tillie” (Lies), 87, homemaker and retired employee of the Sedgwick County Appraisers Office, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010. Rosary, 7 p.m., Thursday, December 9; Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., Friday, December 10, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Tillie was born December 20, 1922 in Andale, Kansas to the late Charles and Susan (Grassl) Lies. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Pete and John Lies; sisters, Theresa Lies and Bertha Zuendel and husband, Raymond Hampel. Survivors: children, Linda Graf (Bill) of Leavenworth, KS, Mike Hampel (Connie), Michelle Jahn (Steve) all of Wichita, Mary Hawkins (Keith) of Medford, OK; sisters, Mary Ann Buchholz of Roggen, CO, Stacy Sigg of St. Joe Ost, KS, Charlotte Beat of Murdock, KS; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Memorials established with St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic School, 132 S. Millwood, Wichita, KS 67213. Downing Lahey Mortuary West.
