Valley Center - Brand, Maurice A., 76, died October 31, 2008. Vigil service 7:00 P.M. Monday, November 3, 2008 and Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 4, 2008, both at St. Jude Catholic Church. He was born July 10, 1932 to Mathias and Genevieve (Engelbrecht) Brand in Colwich, KS. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School in Colwich and St. Gregorys High School in Shawnee, OK. He married Kathleen Lies on June 8, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colwich. Preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jill Leonard; son-in-law, Steve Sawyer. Survivors, his wife, Kathleen; sons, Jim (Cheryl), and Bill (Cindy), both of Colwich; daughters, Kim (Steve) Hieger, of Wichita, Amy Sawyer, of Bel Aire, Jane (Tom) Truman, of Kechi, Mary Beth (Marc) Viers, of Minneapolis, MN, and Jennifer (Jim) Wunder, of Shawnee, KS; son-in-law, Jeff (Ronnie) Leonard, of Wichita; 31 grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Bud) Kerschen, of St. Louis, MO; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews and countless friends. The loves of Maurys life were his faith, his wife family, farming and flying his Piper Cub. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with St. Jude Catholic Church Building Fund, 3130 N. Amidon, Wichita, KS 67204 and St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 7335 W. 33rd St. N., Wichita, KS 67205. Downing Lahey Mortuary West.   9. Dear Kim, Kathleen, and family, Glenn and I are so saddened to hear of the tragic loss that you and your family have experience. The last memory I have of Maury is from Hilary’s wedding, when Maury and Hilary were dancing. They both had such smiles on their faces. He is now dancing with our Savior! We will continue to pray for all of you!
