Max Edwin Ed Leonard

Max “Ed” Edwin Leonard, age 66, passed from this life on Monday, November 4, 2019, in Springfield, Missouri. He was born Monday, June 8, 1953, in Wichita, Kansas, to Max Allen and Ursel Imogene (Field) Leonard.
Ed graduated from North High School in Wichita, KS, and Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. Ed married Willietta Jane Watson in September of 1972, and to this union two sons were born: Buck and Thomas.
During his early career, Ed worked for the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company in Wichita, Kansas. Ed, along with his wife, Jane, moved to Springfield, Missouri, and together they started the Dairy Queen on South Campbell. After retiring early from the restaurant business, Ed completed his degree at CBC and then worked for the Assembly of God Church in Brighton, Colorado and later for the Assemblies of God Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri. An avid Kansas City Royals fan, Ed enjoyed watching the Royals and fishing in his spare time. However, his joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his six grandchildren.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Max and Ursel Leonard. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Leonard, of the home; son Buck Leonard and his wife, Shannon of Rose Hill, Kansas; son, Thomas Leonard and his wife, Noelle of Springfield, Missouri; and six grandchildren: Kaelee, Emalee, Ryan, Samuel, Elise and Levi.
Missouri services will be held at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, 2001 W. Walnut Lawn, Springfield, MO, with visitation being held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Monday, November 11, 2019. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Wright officiating.
Kansas services will be held at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East, 6555 E. Central Ave., Wichita, KS, with visitation being held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home with Keith Mankins officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1824 Oliver Avenue, Wichita, Kansas.
