The Foster Grandparent Program sends its deepest condolences to the Coppel family. Maxine was known for her genuineness and ability to connect with people of various ages and backgrounds on a more personal level. She directed the Catholic Charities Foster Grandparent Program for 19 years from 1981 to 2000 and built the program into a nationally recognized intergenerational program. By 1997, Catholic Charities had recruited 89 Foster Grandparents. The late PJ Nicholson, program clerk, attributed the success of the program to its director, Maxine Coppel: “Maxine is a true humanitarian and a wonderful caring person. Each Foster Grandparent is her personal friend. Any problems, personal or work related are top priority till resolved. She goes that ‘second mile’ in all events.” Maxine’s presence will certainly be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. May the Lord bless you and keep you!
