Ashford, Maxine P., 82, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, retired Sears sales clerk and part-time Wal-Mart greeter, died Thursday, January 10, 2008. Viewing from 10:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. Sunday, 8:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. Monday, and 8:00 A.M. - 1:30 P.M. Tuesday. Service 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Maxine graduated from Sylvia Rural High School. She married Enos N. Ashford September 27, 1944. Enos preceded her in death on February 26, 1980. She was also preceded in death by, sisters, Geraldine Staats and Bernice Young; brothers, Kenneth and Keith Stone.; and grandson, Mike Webb. Survivors: daughters, Karen Olson of Mesa, AZ and Judy Walker of Wichita; brother, Lloyd Stone of Emporia; grandchildren, Tina Martin, Kristi Richardson and Robin Normand; great-grandchildren, Drue Walker, Triston Martin, Amanda Watson, Kris and Cody Normand, Alyssa and Katie Martin. A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society, 818 N. Emporia, S-100, Wichita, KS, 67214.
