Melody K. Lopez, 42, of Wichita, died Saturday, February 27, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Melody was born to Scott and Kathy Brown on July 2, 1978, in Olathe, Kansas. Melody loved nothing more than cheering on Taccarri at all his sporting events. She loved being his mom. She was the fun mom, always planning the best themed birthdays. She was the fun aunt as well, and they knew she would be up for anything they wanted to do. She loved her family and friends deeply. She and her sisters liked to call themselves the “Browndashians”, a name they came up with during their annual Big 12 Tournament trip. She was up for any live sporting event and concert or a trip to the beach. Melody will be missed deeply by so many. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I only knew Melody a short time, but she forever had a smile. My sincere condolences to my cousin Ryan, Taccarri, & Brown family. RIP Melody – U gave a good fight!

  2. Melody – you were one of the most gracious individuals I have known. Always smiling, always looking forward to better things to come. I am grateful to have worked with you and shared memories of family and friends. You fought well and never let the challenges bring you down. Now better things are here. I pray for you and your family. May the tears shed at this sad time remind us that loving others is the greatest gift we can ever bestow on another soul. Prayers for you and your family.

  3. I admired Melody’s intellect, enthusiasm, determination and courage. She had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. Her love for her son, “T”, shown brightly. A few months before her death, she walked across the street from her house to mine. For nearly an hour, she shared her cancer journey with me—her hopes, her disappointments, her challenges, her pride in her husband and son. I consider that conversation to be one of the greatest privileges in my life. With love and prayers, Cheryl Firsching, a neighbor and friend

  4. My memories of her from middle school was her beautiful singing voice. Specifically, the song “Save the Best for Last,” by Vanessa Williams. She was a beautiful light and now has her wings.
