Wichita, Kansas - 58, medically retired, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Viewing, 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, December 28-29, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Funeral Service, 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, Cornerstone Fellowship Church. Melvin enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved woodworking, was a drag racing enthusiast, loved to build his own engines, and worked as an automobile technician. He enjoyed riding his Harley Free Wheeler, loved going on rides, and was a member of the We Ride Kansas organization. Melvin was a staple of his neighborhood and never met a stranger. Survivors: wife, LeAnna; sons, Ryan (Stephanie) McCurdy of Goddard, Chad (Amanda) McCurdy of Wichita; brother, Kenneth Jarrett of Joplin, MO; sisters, Hattie Clune of Hutchinson, Linda (Gerald) Proberts of Wamsutter, WY; sister-in-law, Jean Jarrett of Hutchinson; grandsons, Jacob and Dalton; granddaughters, Mariah, Paisley and Rylynn. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Deula McCurdy; brother, James Jarrett; sister, Patricia Rowe; brother-In-law, Frank Clune. A memorial has been established with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
