Suter, Merrill F., (Major USMC, Ret.), 91, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in Wichita, KS. Merrill was born January 4, 1921 in Metamora, IL, the third son of Albert and Margaret Suter. He was a marine pilot and veteran of both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Following his military retirement, he had an expansive real estate career of over 50 years. He was a charter member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and was again a member at his death. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. Preceded in death by parents; brothers: Anthony, Walter, and Lawrence; granddaughter: Cathrine Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Margaret; children: Merle (Martha Anne) of Wichita, John (Mary Jean) of Hutchinson, Robert (Debra) of Wichita, Vicki (Luther) Talley of Cheney, William (Rebecca) of Arlington, TX, Gregory of Wichita, and Thomas (Georgia) of Hutchinson; siblings: Evelyn Thomas of Wichita, Albert of Wichita; 29 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren. Rosary, 7 p.m., Sunday, June 17, Downing Lahey Mortuary West Chapel, 10515 W. Maple. Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., Monday, June 18, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N. Socora.
