January 3, 2017
Michael David Mehl, March 16, 1945 January 3, 2017. Michael David Mehl silently passed away comfortably at his home in Roseville, CA on January 3, 2017 at the age of 71 from natural causes. Michael is survived by a brother (Larry), son (Jordan), and a grandson (Maximus). He was a devoted father, brother, son, and husband. He loved sports and was a first-rate bowler as a youth. Michael was a true gentleman and one of the most loyal friends anyone could ever ask for. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was a kind and gentle spirit who never complained and always had a positive, happy demeanor. He enjoyed a tremendous career at Federal Express and was extremely successful in business development; he was honored on many occasions with numerous awards from the company. He enjoyed bragging about being their 175th employee (Fedex now numbers 400,000). Through his relationship with Dave and Thelma Steward and their children, David II and Kimberly (to whom he was "Uncle Mike"), he supported many philanthropic efforts such as Varity The Childrens Charity, the United Way and many, many more. His contributions afforded him opportunities that he so enjoyed, including meeting notables such as Carlos Santana, Ramsey Lewis, Smokey Robinson, BeBe Winans and more. Michael loved to travel, enjoyed getting involved with new business ventures and watching sports. As a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, he was a huge Sooners fan and he was a big fan of the Wichita State Shockers, as well. But his number one passion was for the Sacramento Kings Basketball team. Michael was awarded many accolades from the Kings organization, one of which was "6th Man" for which he was very proud of the recognition. Rest assured the Kings have a #1 Fan in the sky looking over them with a big smile and loud cheer. Graveside Service will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Hebrew Cemetery. Memorials have been established with: Hebrew Congregation of Wichita, 1850 N.
