Michael Francis Towey

Michael Francis Towey was born in Wichita, Kansas, on January 27, 1953, to James and Raynelda Towey and passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada after a short illness. Mike is pre-deceased by his parents; step-son, David Cobb; brothers, Tim and Dan; brothers-in-law, Kenny Atiken and Tom McCall. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynette; granddaughters, Rachel and Natalie Cobb; sisters, Patty McCall, Colleen (Rod) Young, Theresa (Eddie) Newby, Kathy (Barry) Dorion; brothers, Kelly (Deb) Towey, Jim (Janine) Towey, John (Carol) Towey; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held Saturday, October 25^th, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Stewardship Hall, 861 N. Socora, Wichita, KS 67212 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.

Mike attended Kapaun and Bishop Carroll Catholic High Schools. After high school, he worked for Foley Tractor Company who sent him to Peoria, Illinois for further mechanical training. He moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he met and married Lynette on March 17^th, 1990. They moved to California and then Las Vegas where they ran “Towey Equipment Company”. Mike was a Caterpillar Specialist owning and working on his heavy equipment machines until his untimely death.

Mike was a master mechanic. He loved and could fix anything mechanical – muscle cars, speed boats and heavy earth moving equipment. He was an icon on the Vegas strip for many years. He loved Vegas and he loved Nevada.

While Mike was passionate about his work, he enjoyed playing golf, watching football (Go Raiders!!!) and entertaining his family and friends when they visited Las Vegas or back in Kansas. Mike will be remembered for his generosity, his kindness and laughter.
