Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
Much love and sympathy to Lisa, Shawn, Tyler, Austin, Aunt Ruth, Steve and the girls. I was fortunate to see Michael after his last surgury at KU Med Center. He expressed interest in coming to the Lake of the Ozarks to do some fishing…and I guess maybe to spend some time with me. I kept holding him to the promise – I imagine he is fishing with Uncle Max now. My friend and employee Belinda was with me that day and was so very impressed with Aunt Ruth and the girls. She said to me later ‘What a wonderful family’. There was no doubt that Michael knew he was loved very much. Periodically, Mike used to take me back and forth from Hays…he did the cool things that all the guys did with their cars – and it was so loud that I could hardly hear him. He was so proud of his ‘hot’ car. Shawn and I talked about it at the hospital. Whenever I had something wrong with my car that no one else could diagnose, I would call Mike and he would know exactly what was wrong. When Dad (Ruben Deines) was in the hospital in Wichita, Mike & Lisa invited us into their home for a nice homecooked meal. I marveled at the wonderful man Michael had grown into. We virtually grew up together, then I moved to Kansas City and we lost touch, so I hadn’t gotten an up close look for awhile…I was impressed to say the least. I have regrets that life took us both in such different directions that we didn’t see each other often – but I’m sure he knew I loved him as I knew he loved me.
Lisa- I am so sorry to hear about Mike. I was unaware of his illness until I saw you guys on the news a few weeks ago. It just broke my heart. He was a genuinely nice guy and I will always remember how he worked on my car for me. You guys had an awesome relationship and a very lovely family. I’m sure that’s how most people will remember him. I haven’t seen you in forever and would love to get together sometime when things settle down for you…maybe for lunch or dinner sometime? I would love to catch up on you and the kids. Please call me or email me if you would like to get together. My home number is 776-9236, work is 264-9351 and email is below. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
You will be missed for now, but we will see you again in the Kingdom of Heaven. Our sympathy and prayers go out to Lisa, the Kids, Aunt Ruth, and the rest of the loving Scott family. Love Blair, Susan, Emily, and Ian Johnson
Lisa, Kaylene emailed me with the news. I hope you don’t mind I forwarded the information on to other VHS classmates. I’m sorry I didn’t know your husband, but I feel sympathy for you and your kids just the same. May you feel the Lord’s arms comforting you in the days ahead. Kona
