Michael W. “Mike” McNeil, 72, a great and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, successful business owner of M-M Service Company for 46 years, advisor, and friend to many, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017, after a 9-year battle with cancer. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Monday, February 6, 2017; Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 7, 2017, both at Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church. Born in 1944, Mike graduated from North High School in 1964. Mike then married the love of his life, Mary Jane and started both a family and a successful business career. Mike was always making some sort of deal between two parties, solving some problem, building or fixing something. Mike was very active in supporting and promoting antique automobiles, especially Chevrolets. If Mike wasnt at work here in Wichita, at a car show, parade or swap meet with his 1927 Chevrolet fire truck, you could find him at his other “home” at Fall River Lake. Mikes deep and enduring love of family was expressed in time spent together with his family and friends at the lake, trips to car shows around the country or going to countless school activities for all his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mike was known as “Uncle Mike” to a lot of people that he wasnt related to, but was called that because he treated everyone like family. He generously gave his time and efforts to organizations, and served on the National Board of Directors and as International President of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. Preceded in death by his father, Albert McNeil; and sister, Patricia Carter. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Jane McNeil; children, Janet McNeil, Kathleen (Alan) Wooderson, Brian (Teresa) McNeil, Emily (David) Warrender, Meghan (Daryl) Ashcraft, Erin (Randy) Chambers, all of Wichita, KS; mother, Bette McNeil of Wichita; sisters/brothers, Helen (Larry) Damm of Wichita, Mary Kay (Mick) Bean of Sedgwick, KS, Thomas McNeil of Fall River, KS; grandchildren, Grace, Molly, Madison, Tucker, Ben, Naomi, Cody, Heidi, and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, and Adelyn; numerous nieces and nephews. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorials have been established with American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718; or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
