Mildred E. Mitchell

Mitchell, Mildred Eva, (88) homemaker, died August 11, 2006 after a stroke. Services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 AM, Downing Lahey East. Viewing will be 10 - 9 Sunday, and 8 - 9 Monday. Mrs. Mitchell was born February 27, 1918 on a farm near Greenwich, KS, the daughter and only child of Henry Adah Tripp Stollei. The family moved into Wichita in 1930. Mrs. Mitchell graduated from East High School and Southwestern College where she earned her B. A. and Teaching Certificate in English and Language. She taught in high school before her marriage to Lynn Mitchell September 13, 1941. They managed the family farm interests for 48 years. She was an active volunteer with 4-H, United Methodist Women, American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lynn, and a son, Gary. Survivors: daughters, Marsha Meyersick (Darryl) of Benton, and Karen Mitchell (Charles Bueso) of Lenexa; grandchildren, Tyler and Erin Meyersick, Andrew and Douglas Mitchell-Bueso; and great-grandson, Justin Gettings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Greenwich UMC, 5500 N. Greenwich Rd, Wichita, KS 67226, and may be designated for UMCOR or Global AIDS Fund.
