Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. A life lived well, reflected by her entire family; joyful and abundant. Memories created, will flow in the thoughts of those Mickey loved and those that loved her. May you all trust she is with her heavenly family watching over each of you.

      • What a force of nature she was! She will be greatly missed by so many. I was very fond of her. Condolences to the entire extended family.

  2. Sally, Carolyn, Marilyn and Susie,
I thoroughly enjoyed helping care for Mickey in her last 3 years of life. I also enjoyed getting to know the four of you over those years. You will always have a special place in my heart. God Bless all of you!
    Cindy Bogle

  3. My family and I are forever grateful to Pete and especially Mickey for their generosity to WSU students. Mickey meant the world to me. Any chance I get I share that she is a huge reason why I was able to go to WSU and pursue a degree in Musical Theatre. I am also so grateful for the time that she and I had once I became a professor of that very same program at WSU that the Pete and Mickey Armstrong Scholarship put me through. She continued to support countless WSU College of Fine Arts students and always attended shows and events. I always looked forward to seeing Mickey and hearing what she thought-which always made me laugh! Thank you to her family for sharing her so much with WSU and with WSU students. She truly changed the possibilities for me in life and it was an honor to watch her do the same for our students.

  4. Dear Emily and family, my prayers are with all of you as you celebrate with both sorrowful and joyful tears the wonderful life of Mickey. It was always such a pleasure when you or any of your family popped back into the store . The joy your family radiates is always readily apparent, and I’m sure that began with Mickey. I will always think of the song “This little light of mine, I’m going to make it shine” when I think of all of you. My prayers, and my thanksgiving that I was honored to meet such an accomplished lady and an awesome mom and grandma.

  5. I fondly remember Mickey and your house on Battin. Your mom was a force and I think her and my mom were feminists and inspirations to us. I am so sorry to have missed the service and seeing you all.

  6. Mickey and Pete were an extraordinary pair and I was honored to know them both. They were instrumental in WSU’s successful efforts to obtain the Gordon Parks Papers and so much more. Will miss you Mickey!

  7. I am so sorry that I didn’t find out about Mickeys passing until yesterday. I certainly would have been at her services. As you girls know, Mickey and my Mom Therese “Terry” were very good friends. It was fun to see them together and watch their silly antics! Our family’s favorite picture of our parents was taken at either Marilyn or Carolyn’s wedding. They are holding champagne glasses and by the looks on their faces it wasn’t their first glass. Mother passed in 2017, and Daddy this past June 13th. It didn’t escape me that this was Pete & Mickey’s wedding anniversary. The Schlotthauer family sends our warmest condolences to all you girls and your families. Mickey was a wonderful woman and could really make a person laugh. With love, Laura

  8. Carolyn & Phil: So very sorry to learn that Carolyn’s mother passed away recently. I remember her from my time in Wichita during the ’60s. My mother Eileen was very fond of Mickey. Although I haven’t seen the two of you for over 20 years, I think of you often as my mother was very fond of you two too, plus because of my fondness for Lake City in general. Rees & I are fine, & live in Indiana & Arizona. Take care & cherish your memories of Mickey. She will always be with you. Our best to your family.

  9. We have such fond memories of Mickey and Pete and your family!
They were wonderful friends over the years.
There are fun stories and adventures (with much love) that were shared between our parents.
    May Mickey rest in peace.
With sympathy, and our best to every one of you!
    Joan Booth Iversen
