Mildred Irene (Reynolds) Schmidt

Schmidt, Mildred Irene Reynolds, 97, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, departed this life to be with God, on January 13, 2006. A resident of Wichita since 1946, Mildred resided at Georgetown Village for the last seven years. All who knew Mildred remember her fondness for games, especially scrabble and bridge. Born January 12, 1909 in Steele City, Nebraska, she lived her early years on a homestead near Douglas ND. She attended the University of Michigan, where she was certified as a Dental Hygienist. While working for Firestone she met married Wayne Schmidt in Akron Ohio on January 31, 1931. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents Walter and Nina (McElhinney) Reynolds, brothers Lloyd and James, and beloved grandson David Schmidt Mildred and Wayne were long-time active members of College Hill United Methodist Church, and owners of Schmidt Tire Supply. They have four surviving sons, Robert and Mary Schmidt (Wichita), Jim and Kay Schmidt (Overland Park, Kansas), Dave and Dottie Schmidt (Kansas City, Missouri), and Ralph and Francine Schmidt (Fairway, Kansas), 13 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202 and Georgetown Village 1655 Georgetown, Wichita, KS 67218. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 16, at College Hill United Methodist Church.
