Monte Kent Pelz,76, retired Pelz Retail Liquor Store owner, devoted husband, family man and grandpa, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Sunday, April 21, 2024, with Funeral Mass at 10:30 am, Monday, April 22, 2024, both at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Monte married Ramona Breitenbach on September 7, 1968, and celebrated 55 years of marriage. He was a Notre Dame fan, an avid golfer and card player. He will be remembered for his humor and being a great dad. Monte was a generous, kind individual that enjoyed meeting and talking with anyone and everyone. He loyally attended St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and had a strong Catholic faith. Monte is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Norma Pelz; brother, John Pelz; son, Andrew Pelz; nephew, Evan Williams. He is survived by his wife, Mona Pelz; daughters, Julie (Brad) Hying, Erin Pelz, Mary (Kris) Terhune; brother, Ronald Pelz; sister, Cheryl Williams; six grandchildren. Memorials have been established with: St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church 3642 N. Ridge Rd., Wichita, KS 67205 and The Lord's Diner 520 N. Broadway St., Wichita, KS 67214. The family would like to specially thank Father Dan Spexarth and Father Trevor Buster for their spiritual care and guidance. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.

    So very very sorry for your loss of Monte! He was such a super nice guy! I know how very much you will all miss him! You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers!

  3. I met Monte when he gave me the opportunity to install his alarm system in his new store. Over the many years I met and got to know his family. I learned that for a time we both lived on the same block of Bennett street in Wichita.
