Muriel Phyllis Leitner
July 3, 1931 ~ August 13, 2022
Phyllis Leitner, 91, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on August 13, 2022. Born in South Africa, she immigrated to the United States and settled in Wichita in 1973 with her husband, Dr. Arnold Barnett and children, Sharon and Neil. A nurse by training, Phyllis’s true passion was caring for others. She was a master gardener and loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Since moving to Overland Park six years ago, she enjoyed being able to spend more time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Arnold Barnett, and second husband, Amos Leitner. She is survived by her children, Sharon (Jerry) Lindenbaum and Neil (Lisa) Barnett, and step-children, Yoram (Cathy) Leitner and Naomi (Dov) Leitner. She was the loving grandmother of Sara (Josh), Nicole (Tim), Aaron (Rebecca), Mark (Annie), Caroline, and Rachel and step-grandmother of Elizabeth (Michael), Amanda (Rick), Diana (Ruth Ellen), Noga (Omri), Jonathan (Abby), and Maya (Nadav); she has twelve great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are her brother, Robbie Laurens and nieces, Elna and Renè.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 11:00 at Wichita Hebrew Congregation Cemetery.
