Nancy Ann Derryberry, a woman whose life was a vibrant blend of love, creativity, and cherished connections, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on November 28, 1939, she graced the world with her gentle spirit and unwavering warmth.
Nancy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Albert Joe Derryberry, on June 8, 1960. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, a foundation upon which a beautiful family was built.
Nancy graduated from nursing school and went on to become a school nurse at her children’s school. She also possessed a keen intellect and a boundless imagination. An avid reader, painter, a lover of all things pink and whimsical; she held a special fondness for fairies. She cherished her Tuesday coffee gatherings with friends in Coffeyville. All the grandkids knew that summers were spent at Nana’s, in the pool or down by the creek.
Above all, Nancy was a devoted matriarch, a role she embraced with immense pride and joy. She was the heart of four generations aka the Quad Gen: Nancy, Denise, Megan, and Olivia. They will cherish the memories they have; they could usually be found shopping or having a glass of champagne together.
Nancy is survived by her loving children, Denise (Mark) Maloney and Douglas (Meg) Derryberry; her cherished grandchildren; and her adored great-grandchildren.
Her friends and family will deeply miss her presence, her kindness, and her unwavering love. However, they find comfort in knowing that Nancy has been reunited with her beloved Joe.
The burial will be a private service but please join us for a celebration of life happy hour at the Reflection Ridge Country Club clubhouse on March 8th, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. Please wear pink or floral in honor of Nancy.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Coffeyville Public Library, 311 West 10th Street, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337-5816. Funeral arrangements through: Downing & Lahey West Mortuary, Wichita, KS.
We lived next door to Nancy in Coffeyville Kansas. She became a very good friend. I’ll never forget when we took our kids to see the movie “Jaws” it scared us all! I will always remember Nancy with such fondness – she was one of kind. So true, so genuine and just such a lovely woman in all ways, inside and out! Rest in peace dear Nancy. Nancy was such a sweet lady. First meeting was at the Coffeyville Country Club pool where we were all getting our golden summer glow. Always a smile and good laugh. She will be missed and I’ll never look at pink and white wicker without thinking of her. May God grant peace to her family. She and Joe are together again 🙏🙏❤️❤️
I was a classmate of Nancy and Joe. I will always remember her smile and sweetness all during high school. My condolences to her family and may Nancy and Joe be together again forever. Go with God.
Nancy’s parents, Harl & Imogene were good friends with my parents, when we were little they would put Nancy my brother Larry & me in bed together while they played Canasta.
