Nancy Jean Allinger (Reynolds) passed away peacefully at her home, March 28, 2023, with her husband of 41 years, Kirk R. Allinger, by her side. Nancy fought and beat breast cancer in 2011 and for the last three years fought hard against Interstitial Lung Disease. She ultimately lost the fight, but throughout it she stayed the same caring and kind person she always was. Nancy was born February 5, 1959, in Bath, New York to John R. Reynolds and Marilyn S. Reynolds (Whiting). During her childhood her family moved from New York to Carlsbad, California and then back to Interlaken, New York. After high school she attended and graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. This is also where she met her husband, Kirk, and they were married on April 24, 1981. Work ultimately brought them to Wichita, Kansas in 1984 and it has been home ever since. During her career one of her favorite jobs was at Wichita State University, and this is where she retired. In retirement Nancy loved to read, knit, spend time with family, and for the last two years she was a proud and happy grandma. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents John Reynolds and Marilyn Reynolds (Whiting). She is survived by her husband, Kirk Allinger; her sisters, Rebecca Reynolds and Laurie Reynolds; her daughter, Kelsey Furgeson (Spencer); her son, Brian (Elizabeth); and one grandson, Brooks. Nancy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, friend, and the upmost caring person. She will be missed. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Downing & Lahey - West Chapel. There will be no Funeral Service and burial will be at a later date.
