Naomi Louella Daughtery McKee, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on July 11, 2024, at the age of 81. Born in Dalhart, Texas on May 19, 1943, Naomi's life was woven together with love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was known for her infectious enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures, which included sipping on Diet Coke, spending leisurely hours browsing the aisles of Dollar Tree and Walmart, watching Days of Our Lives (she never missed an episode), and cooking and baking as much as she could. Despite her love for celebrating life's joys, Naomi was notorious for her less-than-perfect driving and parking skills, which became endearing anecdotes shared fondly by her family and friends. Throughout her career as a beloved daycare provider, Naomi touched the lives of countless children with her nurturing spirit, lots of arts & crafts, hot dogs, and overall mothering spirit to all she was around. Affectionately known as "Maga" by her grandchildren, Naomi's nickname evolved to "Maga News" because of her uncanny ability to keep up with everyone's lives and the latest news. She was an avid fan of KU basketball and could often be found cheering enthusiastically from her couch for her ‘Hawks. Naomi's devotion extended beyond sports; she never missed an opportunity to attend her grandchildren's events, especially their own games, where her presence was a source of unwavering support and encouragement. She had a unique talent for finding joy in every moment and celebrating even the smallest occasions. Her fondness for sending cards for every conceivable event and decorating her house for even the smallest of holidays were among the many things that made Maga happy. Maga leaves behind a legacy of boundless love, kindness, and generosity. Her laughter, warm hugs, and unbridled enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her daughters, Julie (Rich) Norrod and Jana (Mark) Griggs and their father Bob McKee. Grandchildren include: Kyrie (Chris) Edwards, Clayton (Kayla) Norrod, Emily (Jordan Cole) Griggs, Hannah Griggs, Kendall Norrod, Meghan (Bradford) Oliva, and Rebecca (Daniel) Jackson. Her great grandchildren include: Colby, Callaway, Kellen, Cooper, & Kipton Edwards, Barrett & Remington Norrod, James & Ruby Oliva, and Louise & Julian Jackson. She is preceded in death by her son Robert Michael McKee, her mother Georgia McKirahan Dennington, father Arthur Daughtery, and stepfather O.L. Dennington. A rosary will be held on Sunday, July 14 at 7 pm and funeral services on Monday, July 15 at 10:30. Both events will be at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wichita, Kansas. Rest in peace, dear Maga, we take comfort in knowing that you are now reunited with Robby, likely sharing a Diet Coke and enjoying each other's company once again. A memorial has been established with: Heartland Home Care and Hospice, 2872 N. Ridge Rd. #122, Wichita, KS 67205. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.
