Pruitt, Norma Ann, (Valentine), 88, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011. Rosary, Wednesday, December 21, 2011 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass Thursday, December 22, 2011 10:00 a.m. both to be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Norma, a teacher and Italian opera singer, married Pleasant John Pruitt who was in the Navy when they met at a USO dance in Spokane, Washington. Norma married and came to Kansas to help John with his pharmacy. She became a devoted mother, wife, and was married for over 65 years. She was proud of her children: her two sons, who are practicing physicians, and her daughter who became a foreign language teacher. She loved to sing and sang in the church choir for over 55 years. She was a joy to all who knew her, from her friends to the workers in the grocery store, and had a kind and cheerful word for everyone. Preceded in death by husband, Pleasant John Pruitt. Survived by children; Chris (Ann) Pruitt, Colorado Springs, CO, Joe (Diana) Pruitt, Golden, CO., Miriam (Tony) Madrigal, Wichita, KS. Sister; Mary Anderson, Independence, KS. Grandchildren; Andrew (Sonia) Pruitt, Katherine (Mike) Hurley, Anna Pruitt, Benjamin Pruitt. Great-grandchild, Isabella Hurley.
