Norma C. Greever

August 8, 1930 ~ December 5, 2024
Norma C. Greever, aged 94, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Norma’s life was marked by her kindness, leadership, and love of community. A celebrated infant, she was named the “Healthiest Baby” at the Omaha State Fair in 1931-a fitting beginning for a life filled with vibrancy and accomplishment.
After marrying Edward L. Larcher, Norma moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she became an integral part of the city’s social and cultural fabric. Her contributions were many and varied, including active involvement in the Junior League, 20/20 Investment Club, Garden Club, Girls’ Night Out Group, Delta Zeta sorority, and the Gourmet Club. She served on the boards of the Music Theatre of Wichita and Civic Enterprises and was a trustee for the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum.
Norma’s vision and creativity led her to found the beloved Wreath Festival, a cornerstone of Wichita’s cultural events. She earned numerous accolades, including the 1991 Downtown Revitalization Project of the Year Award from the Wichita Updowntowners and the prestigious Woman of the Year honor in 1993 from the Arthritis Foundation.
Despite her many achievements, Norma’s greatest joy was her family. Known for her warmth, wisdom, and exceptional gourmet cooking, she cherished moments spent with her loved ones and was the heart of her family gatherings.
Norma is survived by her children: Kathryn Gardner (Jackson Hole, WY), Thomas Larcher (Jackson Hole, WY), James Larcher (Scottsdale, AZ), and David Larcher (Paradise Valley, AZ); 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Edward L. Larcher, and Leddy Greever, her son, Robert L. Larcher, and great grand-child Henry Snyder.
A rosary will be held on Friday, December 13, at 5:00 PM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, followed by a funeral Mass on Saturday, December 14, at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Norma’s name to the Music Theatre of Wichita, honoring her passion for the arts and her enduring legacy in the Wichita community.
