Norma Jean Hayes

Norma Jean Hayes passed away peacefully in her home on November 5, 2019. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Melvin Hayes; her father, Joe Orville McDonald; mother, Carrie Belle McDonald; and her brother, Billy Dean McDonald. She is survived by her six children: Mary Jo McClelland; Denise Ann Preston (Larry); Rockford Manden Hayes (Darlene); JoAnn Schnittker (Bill); Roxanne Linhart (Steve); and Patrick Joseph Hayes. She was a proud grandmother to Nicholas Russell Preston (Jill); Joseph Alexander Hayes; Pallace Allexandrea Messer (Joel); Hannah Mabel Linhart; Ethan Patrick Hayes; Stanton Royce Schnittker; and, Carrie Anne Linhart, and great-grandmother to Quentin Russell Preston and Cooper Hudson Preston. Norma was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. In addition to her family, her great loves were playing piano, painting, cooking, John Wayne movies, studying scripture, and the four Pomeranians and two Shelties she raised and spoiled. The family will hold a private graveside service at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to Joe. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts in Norma’s memory be made to the Wichita Children’s Home, 7271 E. 37th St. N., Wichita, KS 67226; or the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N.
