Madden, Norris Herschel, 87, loving husband, father, founder, owner and CEO of Kansas Plating, Inc, for 52 years, died Sunday, December 16, 2007. Service 1:30 P.M., Thursday, December 20, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Norris was an astute businessman with a background in accounting when he started in the plating business in 1955. With great commitment and determination, he turned the small business into a continuing force in the metal finishing industry. Throughout his life, varied other enjoyments included playing semi-pro hockey at the Alaskan Ice Palace in his younger years, photography, golf and RVing all over the country. He was also an accomplished pianist and organist, belonging to the Hammond Organ Society and playing solely by ear for he could not read music. Norris was born February 15, 1920 in Helena, OK to parents Terrance Herschel Madden and Faye (Feely) Madden. Preceded in death in 2000 by his wife of 60 years, Doris Madden, his parents and a younger brother. Norris married Shirley Hawkins, December 28, 2002. Survivors: wife, Shirley Madden; children, William (Donna) Madden of Lexington, KY, Marilyn OMadden of Kansas City, MO and Susan (Terry) Shain of Wichita; grandchildren, Jeffrey Madden and Melissa (Mark) Setters, all of Lexington, KY, Matthew Ridgeway, of California, Morgan Ridgeway of Kansas City, MO and Cade Norton of Wichita; great-grandchildren, Keegan and Kadin Setters of Lexington, KY, Sydney Courser of Olathe, KS and Danielle Ayala of Wichita; brother, Norval (Joyce) Madden of Wichita. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Salvation Army, The Lords Diner or the charity of the donors choice.
