Orloske, Edwin R., 89, succumbed to his failing heart at home on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. He was born in Burnstad, ND and moved to Centralia, WA as an infant. He trained as a chicken sexor, served in the army in WWII and retired as a Postal Clerk. He is survived by wife, Dorothy; daughters, Cynthia Hunter-Tim of Eugene, OR, Patricia Davis-Jerry and Tonie Rollins-Mike of Rose Hill, KS; son, Mark of Lexington Park, MD; grandchildren, Thad Weck of Novato, CA, Aaron Weck-Manami of Portland, OR, Jeff Davis-Angie of Kansas City, Ryan Davis-Leyla of Wichita, Lindsay, Chris and Michaela Rollins all of Rose Hill, KS; great-grandchildren, Grace and Jack Davis, Christian and Madeline Davis. He is one of nine siblings and the last to survive. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Edwin will always be remembered for his love of family, his association with the Rose Hill Lions Club and the Rose Hill United Methodist Church. He enjoyed volunteering at Urban Ministries and St. Francis Hospital and serving for food services at Raytheon to earn money for the Rose Hill Senior Center and his church. He and his wife have many good memories of travels with the Friendship Force and making friends in many countries. Services will be at the Rose Hill United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., Monday, October 10. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Rose Hill United Methodist Church, 19551 S.W. Butler Rd., PO Box 189, Rose Hill, KS, 67133. Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Tributes may be sent to the family via www.dlwichita.com

Guestbook

  1. Rest Edwin, until you hear at dawn, the low, clear reveille of God. Thank you for your service to this nation.

  2. My prayers are with Dorothy and her family, Ed was a blessing to know and live beside. I first met the Orloskes at Dellrose UMC, and renewed our friendship at Rose Hill UMC. Ed has been faithful in so many ways through his years, and I am sure he is organizing and cheering on folks in heaven today. May God bless you all, with the joy of knowing Ed is where his faith has been leading him and others all his life. You are all in my prayers.
