Smith, Otis H., 94, retired President of the Boeing Helicopter Company, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012. Memorial service 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 7 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Otis was born November 21, 1917 in Hutchinson, Kansas. Otis was an avid golfer. He was member of the Royal Order of Jesters-Court #76 and the Wichita Country Club. Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie Irene and Lowell Lawson Smith, sister, Anarozelma, brothers, Darrell and Loren. Otis was also preceded in death by his loving lady and wife of fifty-four years, Lorraine Loyd Smith. A memorial has been established with Masonic Lodge Scottish Rite Trust, 321 E. 1st, Wichita, KS, 67202.

We were so very sorry to learn of the death of Otis, former partner and competitor in many rounds of golf. He and Lorraine were always special to us. Our sympathy to family and friends. Bobby and Patsy Dare
I met Otis Smith when I was secretary to his good friend, Roscoe ‘Red’ Boone, at Boeing Wichita. He provided the type of leadership that was needed for the down times and the up times. He will be missed by his many friends, but happily reunited with his many friends and family who left before him. God Bless his family.
Otis was a gentle gentleman who made huge contributions to Wichita,Ks. A brilliant mind, a kind heart and an independent nature made him a truly unique character to all who knew him. He will be missed.
