Patricia Ann Wormhoudt

Wormhoudt, Patricia Ann, interior designer and owner of Design Studio, Ltd., continued her journey beyond our sight on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. She was born October 25, 1934 in San Bernadino, California. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur V. Sorenson and Verla M. Sorenson, by step-mother, Mary Sorenson and by sister, Karen Lynn Marcus. She is survived by her children, Jennifer Blood of Phoenix, AZ, Lizanne (Gil) Guthrie of Wichita, Gilman (Martha) Blood of Overland Park, KS, Trina Blood of Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Jack and Suzannah Guthrie, and Chandler and Bailey Blood; nephew, Matthew Marcus; step-daughter, Julie Wormhoudt; and many, many dear clients and friends. In addition, she will be sorely missed by her three cats. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 29, 2014, in the theater at The Wichita Center for the Arts, 9112 E. Central Wichita, Kansas. Pat attended both Washburn University and the Kansas City Art Institute. A beauty her entire life, she and her sister both modeled clothing at the Inness Tea Room in the early 1960s. She began her interior design career with John Coultis Interiors and then worked for her own clients while raising a family. In 1982, she bought and remodeled an historic building on East Central for which she was given the Orchid Award by the Kansas Society of Architects and the City of Wichita. She founded Design Studio, Ltd. at that address the same year. She loved being an interior designer and spent her life helping people create beautiful spaces in which to live and work. Because of her gracious and caring nature, many of her clients became some of her best friends. She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority at Washburn, of the Second Church of Christ, Scientist in Wichita and was a long time board member of the Kansas Humane Society.
