Patricia Anne "Annie" Coker Kamp
Patricia Anne “Annie” Coker Kamp was born in Montgomery, Alabama on October 5, 1947, and died in Wichita, Kansas on Friday, April 4, 2025. Annie was the oldest of four daughters of her parents, Bill and Beverly Coker.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her niece, Elizabeth Mordue; her father-in-law, Hans Kamp; mother-in-law, Anneliese; her brother-in-law, Hans Jürgen Kamp; and her sisters-cousins, Josephine DeVane and Beth Gay.
Annie was a Christian believer. She was a graduate of Auburn University, studied Computer Science at University of Maryland, and was proficient in the German Language.
Annie is survived by her husband, Rainer; and her three sisters, all in the Auburn, AL area: Barbara Coker Perry (with daughter Christa Perry and her husband Chris, and daughter Hannah Morton and her husband Matt, plus son Eli Perry, and son Lane Perry with his wife Jenna and daughter Kennady); Jennie Coker Mordue and her husband John; Suellyn Coker.
She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Alissa Kamp Unruh (with her husband Danny) of Wichita and their two daughters, Lindsay Unruh Tubaugh (with her husband Craig and daughter Avalyn and son Calvin) and Bridget Unruh Rains (with her husband Grant and daughter Amelia and soon to be born son Bennett Kamp Rains), both of Kansas City. Also survived by her sister-in-law Angelika Uhl, her niece Jacqueline Kamp, and Jaqueline’s daughter Zoe Kamp, all of Gengenbach, Germany.
She also has many special close friends in the United States and Germany. In the United States she leaves behind Susan and Marvin Wright and Stephanie Pettyjohn, of Wichita; Marsha and Kevin Myers of Kansas City; Mike and Karen Guth of Peoria, IL; Bobbie Unruh of Deerfield, KS; Diana Unruh of Houston, TX; life-long friends, Penelope Poitevint, Donny Cooper, and Gill Gay, of Alabama; Elke Albrecht, Doris Rheinheimer, Ruediger and Helga Ziehmer, Petra and Andreas Hach, Silvia Eltschkner, Ute Scheidt, Ute and Christian Fey, Ralf and Nina Rheinheimer, and Eva Albrecht Hundt of Germany.
She served as a Social Worker in Alabama and on occasion as Acting Director of the Ramstein Airbase Recreation Center in Germany.
She loved to travel throughout Europe and was a member of a walking group that went to many beautiful places which included the German and Austrian Alps. Her favorite restaurant was the Feiermaus in Siegelbach, Germany. Here in Wichita, she loved to swim in her backyard pool. She was a huge Auburn Tigers Football and Basketball fan and enjoyed watching The Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, the Detroit Lions, and Wichita State Shockers!
Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Burial will be 11:00 am, Friday, April 11, 2025, at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, Winfield, KS.

Annie, du fehlst.
Du warst eine meiner engsten Freundinnen – über viele Jahre hinweg hat uns eine tiefe Freundschaft verbunden, die von gegenseitigem Vertrauen, Herzlichkeit und unzähligen gemeinsamen Momenten geprägt war.
Ob Urlaube im Allgäu oder auf Norderney, unsere Reise in die USA oder einfach nur ein lustiger Spielenachmittag mit Karten – jede Begegnung mit dir war besonders. Wir haben zusammen geshoppt, gelacht, geredet – und so viele schöne Erinnerungen gesammelt, die ich nie vergessen werde.
Du hattest ein großes Herz, warst immer für mich da – in guten wie in schweren Zeiten. Dafür bin ich dir unendlich dankbar.
Besonders in Erinnerung bleiben mir unsere gemeinsamen Dampfnudel-Essen – dein Lieblingsgericht. Es war fast schon Tradition. Dieses Essen wird für mich immer ein Stück unserer Freundschaft bleiben.
Meine Gedanken sind bei dir lieber Rainer, bei Annies Geschwistern und bei Alissa und ihrer Familie.
Annie – ich werde dich nie vergessen. Du bist für immer in meinem Herzen.

Annie wasn’t just Annie – she was family to us.
She had been part of our lives since I was little. When she first came to Germany, we couldn’t really speak to each other – she spoke English, I spoke German. But over the years we taught each other our languages, often making up wonderfully creative new words. We laughed so much together – those are memories we’ll never forget.
Annie was such a loving, funny and deeply kind person.
She saw me grow up, she celebrated the wedding of Christian and me, and she welcomed our daughter Jule with warmth, joy – and a pair of really cool pink Converse shoes.
She was there for us in the happiest moments of our lives – and also in the hardest ones.
When our dad passed away, she stood by us with so much love and support – especially for our mom. That meant the world to us.
We always loved spending time with her and are forever grateful for all the memories and love she shared with us.
We’re especially thankful that we were able to see her again via Zoom just a few weeks ago – another precious moment to hold on to.
To us, Annie was so much more than a name – she was our A.N.N.I.E.
A is for Amazing – because that’s truly what you were.
N is for Nurturing – always caring, always thoughtful.
N is for Nice – not just nice, but genuinely kind-hearted.
I is for Inspiring – in the way you lived, loved, and never gave up.
E is for Extraordinary – because you made life brighter just by being you.
Our thoughts are with you Rainer, with her sisters and with Alissa and her family.
