Patricia Maurine (Benton) Lorg, 92 passed away peacefully November 16, 2020 at Catholic Care Center, Bel Aire, KS. Pat was born September 7, 1928 to Elredia Benton (Pennington) and William H. Benton in Tulsa, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald Benton. The family moved from Oklahoma to Wichita in the 1940s.
After graduating from Wichita East High School, she attended Wichita State University, where she met Leo. They married in 1948 and supported each other always for more than 72 years. They decided Pat should continue her education at WSU, graduating in 1969.
She then went to teach elementary school at Holy Savior and St. Thomas Aquinas parishes. She continued her education and received her master’s degree as a school psychologist. She was then employed by Wichita Public Schools until her retirement in 1992.
As a loving mother she was a Cub Scout leader, Camp Fire Girls leader, room mother (numerous times), sports fan, and a member of Tri Psi Sorority.
As a member of Church of the Magdalen and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parishes she was active in Altar Society, guild, and served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister as well as being involved in many other activities at church and with the family.
She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting family celebrations (some of them quite large). She loved being a grandma, gardening, crafting, planning vacations (visiting 48 states) and spending time with family.
She is survived by her husband, Leo; two sons, John and David and their spouses; daughter, Linda and her spouse; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated privately with the immediate family. Interment will be at Calvary Mausoleum. A "Celebration of Life " will be scheduled at a later date.
