Patricia N. Heeren (nee Coupland) passed away on January 5, 2024.Patricia was born on May 28, 1938, in Tonopah, Nevada, to the late Frederick and Ethel Coupland (nee Maxson). She attended St. Mark’s Nursing School in Salt Lake City and graduated with a bachelors degree in nursing in 1959.Patricia met Larry G. Heeren in 1956 marrying on February 7, 1959 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. They have three sons, Tim (1959), Tom (1963) and Thane (1967).Larry’s career took the family from Utah to Lincoln, NE where Pat worked at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital before becoming a stay-at-home mom. After 6 years, the family moved to Omaha where Pat began working as a school nurse for the Omaha public schools. She retired in 2000 and they moved to Ridgway, Colorado, where she worked part time as a school nurse. Then, in 2007, Pat and Larry moved to Wichita, where they lived for seventeen years until their deaths.Pat was very devoted to the Episcopal Church, as a secretary, a vestry member, and helped with the altar guild and prepared meals for the parishioners.Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Larry; and her parents, Frederick and Ethel Coupland.Pat is survived by her three sons, Tim (MariAnn), Tom, both of Wichita, and Thane of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Meagan, Alex, Seth, Ben, Luke, Jacob, Noah, Marah, Morgan and Mikkah; and two great-grandchildren, Keyton and Kassidi.Memorial Service will be at 2:30 pm, Saturday, January 20, 2024, St. John’s Episcopal Church.In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation, 5111 E. 21st St. N., Wichita, KS 67208.Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
I was so sorry to learn of dear Ms. Pat’s passing. While my heart hurts for her family’s loss, I am equally relieved that she is now finally free of all Earthly burdens & rejoicing with the Lord in Heaven! She was very special to me & I am thankful for the time that I got to know & work with her. At the end of our visits, I would pray for the Lord to be with her & give her peace; her soul has now been set free at last! My sincerest condolences to her family; may God grant y’all peace, comfort, & solace in the days ahead & may you always remember the very best memories of Ms. Pat!
