Patricia "Pat" Allen, passed away quietly in her sleep Thursday November 2, 2017 at the age of 92. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Mary Ervin; her husband, Gordon M. Allen; her sister, Mary Jane "Sug" Monty (Ervin); and her sister in law, Sally Ervin. Pat was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, the oldest of 3 children. She was a devout Catholic from the beginning. Raised in Wichita, Kansas she attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and Cathedral High School in Wichita. In 1942 she joined the Navy and served as a Wave in Washington DC. After service in the Navy, she went to Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado. There she met and married Gordon "Jud" Allen. A daughter, Mary Teresa, was born in Denver shortly before they moved back to Wichita. After returning to Wichita, Pat was active in the Church of the Magdalen serving the church and school at every opportunity. She enjoyed working at the Wesley Medical Center Library until she retired. Retirement did not slow her down as she started working in the Wichita office of Governor Joan Finney. And as she was fond of saying, "I had a ball." She enjoyed travel, reading, dancing and jigsaw puzzles. Her sweet nature, sense of humor and quick wit made her a favorite of everyone who met her. Her biggest delight was being with her family, friends and four legged furbabies, Sam, Mimi, Lacey and Timmy. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Teresa Tinsley (husband, Steven); her brother, Jerry Ervin; nephew, Garry Monty (wife, Vicky); niece, Jennifer Ervin (husband, Mike); nephew, Jeff Ervin (wife, Amy); great nieces and nephews, Zach, Seth and Jordon Monty, and Colton Ervin. Thank you to all her friends in Wichita who watched over her and helped her as time took its toll. And thank you to everyone at Mayberry Gardens in Garland, Texas who took such loving care of her the last few months. The Rosary and viewing will be at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Friday November 10, 2017 starting at 5:00pm until 6:30 pm.
