97, passed away on January 4, 2018. Born on November 26, 1920 on a farm near Longford, Kansas, he grew up in Bethany, OK and Burdick, KS before his family moved to Miltonvale, KS. He graduated from Miltonvale Rural High School in 1938, where he played basketball and football, and was team captain for both sports. He moved to Wichita after graduating, and married Lillie Marie Paquette on September 26, 1940. During the summer of 1940, Paul attended a sheet metal school in Wichita, KS. He then went to work for Stearman Aircraft Company in October 1940 (which later became part of the Boeing Airplane Company) and pursued a successful career there for 43 years. He served in the US Merchant Marine during WWII. Paul was an avid gardener all his life, and supplied neighbors and friends with plenty of fresh produce every year. He also enjoyed following college basketball and golfing. During his golfing years, he scored a hole-in-one eight times. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; parents, Sherman and Zella (Oberholser) Emrich, and many brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sons Michael, Douglas, and Kipton; brother, George, and sister, Eleonore. Visitation, 3-5 p.m., Sunday, January 7, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West.
