Pauline Ellen Peffly Lyon

Lyon, Pauline Ellen Peffly, 97, homemaker, died Friday, October 7, 2005. Service 2:00 P.M. Monday, Epworth United Methodist Church. Pauline was born in Wellington, Kansas on November 24, 1907, the daughter of Maude V. Anderson and Guy T. Peffly. She had one sister, Oleta Katherine Peffly Johnson, who preceded her in death. After her high school years she worked in the Wellington library and attended the Wichita Business College. She married Stewart “Chick” Jones Lyon in 1928 and moved to Wichita, where Mr. Lyon was in the radio business. Later, as the industry grew, he became a pioneer in the electronics industry and was president of Interstate Electronic Supply, Inc., until his retirement. She enjoyed entertaining business associates and clients at their farm near Wichita. Mrs. Lyon, with her husband, enjoyed raising Arabian Horses and were noted in this area for their fine stock and bloodlines. Mr. Lyon preceded her in death, after 62 years of marriage. She also enjoyed gardening and was active in Epworth Methodist Church, the Twentieth Century Club, Hypatia Club, the Farm and Ranch Club, the Arabian Horse Club and the Opti-Mrs. Organization. She and Mr. Lyon enjoyed travel and had visited most of the countries of the world. In 1958, she and Mr. Lyon were guests of the Japanese Electronic Industry, where Mr. Lyon was a consultant to their new electronics industry. She enjoyed speaking to groups and sharing their experiences. Mrs. Lyon is survived by one daughter, Anne Lyon Coffin of Wichita, three grandchildren, Catherine A. Kennedy of Des Moines, New Mexico, Stewart B. Coffin and Christopher K. Coffin, both of Scottsdale, Arizona, three great-grandsons, four nieces, one nephew, a cousin, Murle Holloway of Snyder, Oklahoma and numerous friendships. Memorials have been established with Epworth United Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
